Privacy Policy

When you upload a screenshot, it is sent to our server so we can find the board and read the cells. The three tray pieces are read by our own image code. In some cases, small crops of the pieces may also be sent to a third-party AI vision provider to help read the shapes. At the time of writing, that provider is Mistral AI.

The working copy of your screenshot is used for that one request and is not kept afterwards. The only way a screenshot is kept is if you choose to share it, as described below.

Manual mode does not upload an image at all. Only the board cells and piece shapes you enter are sent, so the solver can work out the moves.

There are two places where you can opt in to help us improve detection:

• After you correct detected cells, we may ask if you want to submit the screenshot with your corrections.
• When you rate a result with a thumbs down, you can add a note. There is a separate box to include your screenshot. It is unticked by default.

Shared screenshots are used only to check and improve how the tool reads boards. If you want something you shared to be deleted, contact us using the contact page and we will remove it.

To see whether detection is getting better, we count simple events in total, such as how many screenshots were read, how confident the reading was, and how often people corrected a cell. When you fix a cell, we may log which cell it was, what we detected, and what you set it to. These logs do not contain your picture and are not linked to your name or email.

To stop abuse, the server limits how many requests one connection can make per minute. This uses your IP address only in memory for that short time, and it is not stored as a record.
